Monolith Soft – best known for the Chronicles of Xenoblade in recent years – has become one of the best developers of Nintendo. It is also supported some key projects like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Following his release from Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Switch last May, it now reported a profit of 1.171 billion yen in the past year (fiscal year ending March 2021).
As can be seen below, this is the company’s highest profit in recent years and represents an increase of 138.2% year over year. In the previous year, Monolith Soft made a profit of 491 million yen.
Earlier this year, in early March, Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 have also been added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a two-in-one DLC fighter – which probably only increased interest in the Xenoblade Chronicle series.
The Japanese company also recently announced a “big expansion” of its staff – posting more than 40 job vacancies on its website in April. Some positions even refer to THE Legend of Zelda series, which should be linked to the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
