The Legend of Zelda: Sky Sword is a kind of black sheep of the Zelda family, but when it launches again for the Switch in less than a month, it’s going to have another life. Ahead of its imminent release, Nintendo released an introductory trailer detailing the history, world, gameplay mechanics, and more of the game.
The sword of heaven The structure will be more familiar to longtime fans of the series than Wild breath, since it progresses in a much more linear fashion and has dungeon and item based progression. As the first game in the series’ timeline, it’s also a special entry, especially since it talks about, among other things, the origins of the Master Sword.
Meanwhile, Skyward sword will offer a regular control scheme for those who want to play in portable mode (or on the Switch Lite). Motion controls will also be back as an option, and Nintendo says they’ll be smoother and more intuitive than they were on the Wii. Finally, gamers can also expect a number of quality of life improvements (although one particular feature is confusingly stuck behind an amiibo purchase).
