Third-party amiibo aren’t a completely unusual sight – Capcom has been offering Monster Hunter amiibo since Monster Hunter Stories 1 on the 3DS, and longtime collectors will remember the Bowser and Donkey Kong Skylanders crossover figures.
This next one might be too good to be true, however. As discovered by Resetera user Camjo-J on 4chan, Super Monkey Ball’s AiAi may well receive an amiibo in time for Banana Mania.
A lot of detail is present in the shot – AiAi has a molded mount on its foot to keep it straight even in the ball, while the box design matches that of most non-wave amiibo Smash. Unusually, however, the box has the red Nintendo logo – something only first-party amiibo have. The amiibo Monster Hunter, for example, only has the amiibo logo or the Nintendo Seal of Quality instead of the Nintendo logo.
We’ll just have to wait and see if this amiibo is legit before Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania launches on October 5, 2021.
